Our History
MATSEN was founded in 1946 by Mr. Ernest D. Freeman primarily to provide products and services for employee benefits, life, and estate planning. In 1956, Ralph G. Matsen went into partnership with Mr. Freeman in the insurance agency. By 1964 Ralph Matsen had expanded operations to include employee benefits, life and estate planning and both personal and commercial insurance divisions with an emphasis on providing services for larger commercial risks. Ralph Matsen retired in 2002.
In 1979, R. Glenn Matsen joined the firm. Glenn recognized early on the importance automation would play in enhancing our ability to provide responsive and accurate service to our clients. Glenn also instituted using the Marsh Berry benchmarks as a management tool for the company, the Balanced Scorecard perspective and connected with the Sitkins marketing and sales group for the integration of our sales process.
In 1986 Wendy S. David joined the firm as CFO/COO, and is a principal as well. She oversees the heart and soul of the company, which are our team members. She has crafted leading edge service and operation strategies that effectively produces results for our clients. Wendy David is responsible for the development of our M390° client service process on our main campus.
